Blastular arrest and partial cleavage of frog embryos injected with actinomycin D, mitomycin C, and homologous liver macromolecules☆
[摘要] Threematerials—actinomycinD,mitomycinC,andthedialyzedalbumin-globulinfractionofhomologousadultliver(MarkertandUrsprung,1963)—wereshowntohaveessentiallyidenticaldevelopmentaleffectsfollowingmicroinjectionintoRanapipienszygotes.Theseeffectsincludedlateblastulararrestasthemoststrikingandcharacteristiceffect,butalsoincludedgastrulararrestatlowerdoses.Althoughtotaldevelopmentalarrestbeforelateblastulawasneverproducedbyanyofthesematerials,allthreedidproducepreblastulareffectsintheformofpartialcleavage,accompaniedbylateblastulararrestofthecleavedportionoftheembryos.Thepercentageofsuchpartialblastulae,aswellasthefractionoftheembryonicsurfaceuncleaved,increasedprogressivelywithincreasingdose.Sometwodozenothermaterials(drugs,enzymes,etc.)werecarefullyscreenedandshowednoconsistentlyreproducibledevelopmentaleffects,withtheexceptionofribonuclease,twootherenzymepreparations,andstreptomycin.Thesefourallproducedapproximatelythesamecuriousgroupofanomaliesreflectingvariousformsofinterferencewithcleavage.
