Changes in the rate of histone synthesis during oocyte maturation and very early development of Xenopus laevis
[摘要] Oocytesmakehistonesmuchmoreslowlythandounfertilizedeggsandembryos,although,ineggs,theoverallrateofproteinsynthesisisonlyalittlefaster.Thehighrateofhistonesynthesisineggsbecomesestablishedatthetimeofmaturationoftheoocyte,i.e.,oocytenucleusbreakdown,butitisnotdependentonnuclearbreakdown.Atalltheearlieststagesofdevelopment,histonesynthesisisnotcoordinatedwithDNAsynthesis.EnucleatedoocytesandoocytesinthepresenceofactinomycinDwereabletorespondtoprogesteronebymaturingandsynthesizinghistonesatastimulatedrate.Theaccelerationofhistonesynthesisis,therefore,broughtaboutbyapost-transcriptionalcontrolmechanismcapableofchangingtherelativeamountsofdifferentproteinsmadebythecell.
