[摘要] ClonalanalysisusingmitoticrecombinationinDrosophilamelanogastershowsthattheregionoftheorbitduplicatedwithinthecompoundeyeofthemutantMalformedoftenoriginatesfromacellpopulationdifferentfromthatgivingrisetothenormalorbitalregion,although,occasionally,bothregionsmayarisefromthesameprogenitorcell.Wepreferaninterpretationoftheactionofthismutationbasedonthemisreadingofthepositionalinformationatthetimelateindevelopmentwhenimaginalcellsarespecifiedtodifferentiateintoparticularcuticularstructures,ratherthananinterpretationbasedonearlylocalizedcelldeathfollowedbymirror-imageduplication.
