Glucose uptake by chicken embryo hearts at various stages of development☆
[摘要] d-glucose,butnotl-glucose,wasfoundtoreadilyenterthecellsof5-to6-daychickembryoheart.Thissuggeststheoperationofaspecifictransportsystemforglucose.Therateofglucoseuptakewasfoundtodecreaseasdevelopmentproceedsfrom5to15daysofdevelopment,butnofurtherdecreasewasfoundbetween15and20days.Uptakeofglucoseisasaturableprocess,from5–6daysofembryoniclifeon.Thelargedecreaseinglucoseuptakebetween5and10daysofdevelopmentisfoundtobeassociatedwithafourfoldincreaseintheapparentKmoftheuptakeprocess.From10daysofdevelopmentonward,theapparentKmremainsabout40mM.Therateof2-deoxyglucoseuptakealsodecreasedfrom5to15daysofembryoniclifewithnofurtherdecreasefrom15to20days.Glucosecompetitivelyinhibitstheuptakeof2-deoxyglucosewithaKiclosetotheKmforglucoseuptake.Theuptakeof2-deoxyglucoseisstimulatedbyphysiologicallevelsofinsulinasearlyas5–6days,althoughtheextenttowhichinsulinenhancesuptakeisnotquiteasgreatasat15daysofdevelopment.
