Patterns of protein synthesis during development in Caulobacter crescentus☆
[摘要] Thepatternsofproteinsynthesisduringdevelopmentofthegram-negativebacterium,Caulobactercrescentus,havebeenstudiedbysodiumdodecylsulfate-polyacrylamidegelelectrophoresis,two-dimensionalgelelectrophoresis,andDNA-cellulosechromatography.Theanalysisofsolubleproteinsfromcellswhichhadbeenpulse-labeledwith35S-labeledmethionineatdifferenttimesinthecellcycleshowedsequentialchangesintheproteinssynthesizedatsuccessivestagesofdevelopment,anditidentifieda20Kanda28Kproteinwhichtogetheraccountfor12%oftheproteinsynthesizedinearlyswarmercells.Comparisonofproteinpatternsfromdifferentstagesofdevelopmentsuggestedthatfrom10to20%ofthegenesexpressedmaybemodulatedduringthelifecycleofthisorganism.TheresultsareconsistentwitharoleofdifferentialgeneexpressioninthetemporalcontrolofdevelopmentinC.crescentus.
