The control of chorion protein synthesis in silkmoths: mRNA production parallels protein synthesis☆
[摘要] Duringadefineddevelopmentalperiod,thefollicularcellsofsilkmothsdevotenearlyalloftheirproteinsyntheticcapacitytoproductionofthechorionproteins.InthisstudyweshowthatsynthesisandaccumulationofchorionmRNAsasaclasscorrelatewiththeperiodofchorionproteinsynthesis.Priortotheonsetofchoriogenesis,nonewlysynthesizedmaturesize8–10SpolyadenylatedchorionmRNAisdetectableinthecytoplasm,andnotranslatablechorionmRNAaccumulatesanywhereinthecell.Duringchoriogenesis,mRNAtranscriptionissustained.TheevidencesuggeststhatmRNAproductionisanimportantelementintheregulationofchoriogenesis,althoughresolutionofthemRNAsisinsufficienttotestwhetherthedetailsofchoriogenesisareundermRNAcontrol.ThesynthesisofrRNAinthefollicularcellsbeginsmuchearlier,reachesamaximumwiththeonsetofchoriogenesis,anddeclinesprecipitouslythereafter.Thus,thekineticsofchorionmRNAsynthesisandaccumulationareunrelatedtotherRNAmetabolism.
