Calcium, potassium, and sodium exchange by full-grown and maturing Xenopus laevis oocytes☆
[摘要] Thekineticsofcalcium,potassium,andsodiumexchangebyXenopuslaevisoocytesweremonitoredwithradioactivetracersbothbeforeandduringprogesterone-inducedmaturation.Therateof45Careleasesteadilyelevatesforseveralhoursduringmaturation,beginningwithin40minafterprogesteroneexposure.Aboutanhourlater,therateof45Cauptakealsoincreases.Therateof45Careleasebeginstodecline1–2hrbeforegerminalvesiclebreakdown(GVBD);therateofcalciumuptakedeclinesonlyafterGVBD.Similarchangesareseenaftermaturationisinducedwithothersteroids,butnotwhenmaturationisblockedbyinhibitors.Thepassivepotassiumfluxinitiallyincreasesafterprogesteronetreatmenttobefollowedlaterbyadecrease.Theseobservedchangesoccurcoincidentlywiththoseof45Caefflux.Thepassivesodiumflux,ontheotherhand,steadilyincreasesfromthetimeofprogesteronetreatmentuntilGVBD.
