Melanogenesis in cultures of peripheral nervous tissue: I. The origin and prospective fate of cells giving rise to melanocytes☆
[摘要] Chickembryospinalganglia,peripheralnerves,andconnectivetissueusuallyassociatedwithgangliawereculturedseparatelyusingseveralcombinationsofmediaandsubstrata.Melanocytesappearinculturesofbothgangliaandperipheralnerves.Theonlycelltypecommontoboththeganglionandperipheralnervethatcouldaccountfortheobservedpigmentcellswasthepopulationofsmallcellswithintenselystainingnucleithatnormallyassociatescloselywithnervecellbodiesandfibers.Thesecellscouldbedistinguishedmorphologicallyfromfibroblasticcells,whichoriginatedintheconnectivetissuecapsuleanddidnotundergomelanogenesis.Weconcludethatthesesmallcellsaresupportive(Schwann,satellite,andperineurial)cellprecursorsandareonesourceofmelanocytesinculturedperipheralnervoustissue.
