[摘要] Geneticmosaicshavebeenutilizedtoinvestigateeachofthethreepleiotropiceffectswhichresultfrommutationoftherudimentarylocus.Thewingabnormalityresultsfromarequirementforendogenouspyrimidinesynthesiswithinthewingimaginaldiskitself.Mosaicanalysisindicatesthedefectinthewingcanberescuedbypyrimidinesynthesisanyplacewithintheimaginaldiskandthatnomorethan10%ofthecellsofthediskneedbegeneticallycapableofproducingpyrimidines.Thisrequirementforendogenoussynthesisisprobablytheresultofareductionorcompleteeliminationofpyrimidineuptakeataparticularstageduringdevelopment.Ovarytransplantationsindicatethatthesterilityofhomozygousrudimentaryfemalesresultsfromarequirementforpyrimidinesynthesiswithintheovaryitself,andmosaicanalysisoftheauxotrophicphenotypeindicatesthatsurvivaloflarvaeonpyrimidine-freemediumdependsonpyrimidinesynthesiswithinavarietyofdifferenttissues.
