Antigenic and electrophoretic variants of vitellogenin in Oncopeltus blood and their control by juvenile hormone
[摘要] Antigenicanalysisofadultfemale-specificbloodandyolkproteinsinOncopeltusdemonstratedanincompletevitellogenin(A),whichappearsinthebloodpriortoyolkdepositionandislatermodifiedorjoinedbyanantigenicallycompletemolecule(AB).VitellogeninABisantigenicallyindistinguishablefromthemajoryolkproteinofmatureeggs,thoughtheelectrophoreticmobilitiesofthetwodifferin6%acrylamidegels.VitellogeninAaloneappearsinthebloodofadultfemalesinwhichthecorporaallataareknowntobeinactive,i.e.,duringstarvationorphotoperiodicallyinduceddiapause.Stimulationofthesefemaleswithajuvenilehormoneanalogrestoresyolkdeposition,andalsoinducestheappearanceofABintheblood.Whilejuvenilehormoneisneededfortheterminationofdiapauseandthematurationofvitellogenininthisspecies,diapausebeginswiththevitellogenin-producingmechanismalreadypartiallyassembled.
