[摘要] TheConAreceptorsintheplasmamembraneofthefertilizedseaurchineggareuniformlydistributed.Withtheonsetoffirstdivision,thefluorescentlectin-receptorcomplexesbecomelocalizedinthecleavagefurrow.AsimilarasymmetricpatternisseenifthecleavingcellsarefixedbeforetheadditionoffluorescentConA.Aftercleavageiscomplete,fluorescentConAislostfromthefurrowandaccumulatesatthepolesfurthestfromtheplaneofcleavage.Thisasymmetryisretainedthroughsecondcleavage;thustheindividualblastomereshaveasurfacememoryoftheiroriginalorientationwithrespecttoeachother.
