[摘要] Chickembryoneuroretinalcellsaccumulatelens-specificδ-crystallinwhenculturedinEagle'sminimalessentialmediumcontaining5%foetalcalfserumand5%horseserum(FH),butfailtodosoifsupplementaryglucoseispresent(FHG).Culturegrowthratesaresimilarinthetwomedia,butcholineacetyltransferaseactivityismaintainedforlongerinFHGmedium.BytransferringculturesfromFHGintoFHmediumandviceversa,weshowthatpotentiallensprecursorcellssurviveforatleast21daysinFHGmedium,whilesomeretinalcellsbecomeirreversiblycommittedtocrystallinproductionafter18daysinFHmedium.
