Chondrogenesis from single limb mesenchyme cells☆
[摘要] Itisbelievedthatcell-cellinteractionbetweenmesenchymecellsisinvolvedintheinitiationofchondrogenesis,basedlargelyontheinabilityoflimbmesenchymecellstodifferentiateintocartilageunlessculturesareinoculatedatdensitiesgreaterthanconfluency.ThepresentstudydescribesaculturesituationinwhichsinglelimbmesenchymecellseitherinorontypeIcollagengelsareshowntodifferentiateintocartilage,asdefinedbytheappearanceofapericellularalcianbluestainingmatrix,intracellulartypeIIcollagen(demonstratedbyindirectimmunofluorescencewithmonoclonalantibody),andclonablecartilagecells.Becausethedifferentiationofcartilagecellsfromsinglemesenchymecellsoccursonlywhenthecellsareinaroundconfiguration,itisproposedthatcellshapechangesareonefactorthatcanmediateeffectsofcell-cellinteractionondifferentiation.
