Sorting behavior among cells from the 14-day embryonic chick neural retina☆
[摘要] Wehavedevelopedaprocedurefortheisolationoffourdifferentviablecellpopulationsfromthe14-dayembryonicchickneuralretina.PopulationIconsistsprimarily(>80%)ofcellswhichappeartobeganglioncells.PopulationIVconsistsprimarily(>90%)ofsmallcellswhichappeartooriginatefromthebipolarlayer.PopulationsIIandIIIaremixturesofseveralcelltypes.Cellsofeachpopulationwerelabeledwitheitherrhodamineisothiocyanateorfluoresceinisothiocynate,andmixedtogetherunderconditionswhichpromotecellaggregation.Thelabelallowedustofollowthefateofthedifferentcellpopulationsinmixtures.Inallheterotypicmixtures,distinctcellsortingwasobserved.Controlsindicatedthatthelabelingproceduredidnotalterthebehaviorofthecellsinvitro,andthathomotypicmixturesdidnotsortout.Theseresultssuggestthatanintercellularrecognitionsystemexistswhichpermitsthecellsinthepopulationstodiscriminateamongeachother.
