Ectodermal interactions during neurogenesis in the glossiphoniid leech Helobdella triserialis☆
[摘要] MorphogeneticcellinteractionsduringdevelopmentwerestudiedbycombiningcellablationandcelllineagetracingtechniquesinembryosoftheleechHelobdellatriserialis.Ablationofanidentifiedectodermalteloblast,orteloblastprecursorblastomere,ononesideofanearlyembryowasoftenfoundtoresultinthelaterabnormalmigrationoftheprogenycellsofthecorrespondingcontralateral,nonablatedteloblasttotheablatedsideoftheembryo;suchabnormalmigrationwastermed“midlineviolation.â€Twodifferentkindsofmidlineviolationwereobserved.Crossover:afterablationofanNteloblastindividualstemcellprogenyofthecontralateralNteloblastsometimescrosstheventralmidlineofthegerminalplateoftheembryo.Switching:afterablationofanOPQteloblastprecursorbandletsofstemcellsproducedbythecontralateralO,P,orQteloblastssometimesswitchtothegerminalbandoftheablatedsideatthesiteoforiginofthegerminalbands.Theoccurrenceofcrossoverandswitchingshowsthattheeventualsiteoccupiedbyaprogenycellofaparticularteloblastisnotautomaticallydeterminedbyitslineage,butalsodependsoninteractionswithothercells.MidlineviolationintheleechembryoCNSdoesnotconstitutetrueregulation,however,sincetherestorationofneuronstotheablatedsideisaccompaniedbyaneurondeficitonthenonablatedside.Theoccurrenceofthetwodistinctkindsofmidlineviolation,crossoverandswitching,maybeexplainedbytherelativepositionofthestemcellbandletswithinthegerminalbands,andbythegeometricalfeaturesoftheformationofthegerminalplatefromthegerminalbands.
