Pattern formation during early amphibian development: Embryogenesis in inverted anuran and urodele eggs☆
[摘要] EarlyembryogenesiswasmonitoredinXenopus,Rana(anurans),andAmbystoma(urodele)eggswhichwereinvertedatvarioustimesbetweenfertilizationandfirstcleavage.Thepatternofcleavagefurrowformation,siteofinvolution,andextentoforganogenesiswereobserved.Inseveralinstances,patternformationwasdramaticallyaltered.Thesmall/largeblastomerepatternwas,forexample,reversedinsomeinvertedembryos.Developmentalarrestatearlyorganogenesisusuallyfollowedpatternreversal.Byemployingaseriesoftissuetransplantations,itwaspossibletoestablishthattheactivityoftheprimaryembryonicorganizerofinvertedembryoswasdiminisheddrastically.Thedevelopmentalcompetenceoftheprospectiveectodermofinvertedembryoswas,however,reversed.Incompleteorganogenesisininvertedembryosisthereforeprobablyduetoeitherabnormalmesodermformationordefectivetissueinteractions.
