Fate and regulation of anterior-like cells in Dictyostelium slugs☆
[摘要] ApatternoftwotissuetypesexistsintheDictyosteliumslug.Containedwithintheposteriortissueareanterior-likecellswhichcompriseabout10%ofthedevelopingcellmass.Formorethan72hrofslugmigrationtheproportionofthesecellsiscloselyregulated.Theyarerandomlydistributedalongtheanterior-posterioraxisbutabouttwiceasmanyarelocalizedintheventralportionoftheslugposteriorthaninthedorsalportion.Astheslugbeginstoformafruitingbody,theanterior-likecellssortoutintotwogroups.Onegroupmovestowardtheanteriorregionandonetowardtheprebasaldiscregion.Inthematurefruitingbodytheanterior-likecellsremainasundifferentiatedamoebaeattheapexandbaseofthesorus.Removalofanteriortissuefromasluginitiatestwoevents.(1)Someoftheanterior-likecells,probablyguidedbychemotaxistocyclicAMP,sortoutfromtheposteriortissue.(2)Somepresporecellsredifferentiateintoanterior-likecells.Theseeventsresultintheregenerationofanewanterior-posteriorpatternafter2hrandthereestablishmentoftheoriginalproportionsofeachcelltypebyabout8hr.Furthermore,whiletheanterior-likecellswhichlieinslugposteriorsremainasamoebaeinfruitingbodies,theanterior-likecellswhichformtheanteriorsofregeneratedslugssubsequentlybecomestalkcells.Thus,itappearsthatforacelltodifferentiateasastalkcell,itmustfirstbeexposedtosomeformofsignalwhichispresentinboththeanteriorandprebasaldiscregions.
