Translationally mediated changes in patterns of protein synthesis during maturation of starfish oocytes☆
[摘要] WhenmeioticmaturationofprimaryoocytesofthestarfishAsteriasforbesiisinducedby1-methyladenine,rapidandstrikingchangesinthepatternofproteinsynthesisdetectablebyelectrophoresisoccuraftergerminalvesiclebreakdown.Theseincludeadeclineinrelativelabelingwith[35S]methionineofseveralpolypeptidessynthesizedintheoocyte,andincreasedlabelingandnewappearanceofseveralpolypeptides.Fertilizationdoesnotresultinotherdetectablechanges.ThepopulationoftotalmRNAtranslatableinarabbitreticulocytelysatecell-freesystemdoesnotchange,butthedistributionofmRNAsbetweenpolysomesandthepostribosomalsupernatantreflectsthechangesobservedinvivo.Thusthesechangesareregulatedatthetranslationallevel.Areviewoftheliteratureindicatesthattranslationallymediatedchangesinpatternsofproteinsynthesisduringmaturationofoocytesmaybeawidespreadphenomenon.
