Timing, localization, and control of wheat germ agglutinin synthesis in developing wheat embryos☆
[摘要] Thelectin,wheatgermagglutinin(WGA),issynthesizeddenovobydevelopingwheat(Triticumaestivum,L.)embryosbutisnotsynthesizedorlocalizedindevelopingendospermasshownbyradioimmunoassay.YoungembryosremovedfromthegrainandculturedonadefinedmediumgerminateprecociouslyandconcomitantlyceaseWGAsynthesis.Invitroprecociousgerminationofyoungembryosisreversiblyinhibitedbylowlevels(1–100μM)oftheplantgrowthsubstanceabscisicacid(ABA).EmbryosinhibitedfromgerminatingbythisgrowthregulatornotonlycontinuesynthesizingWGA,butdosoatanacceleratedratewhencomparedwithembryosleftassociatedwiththegrain.
