Formation of prechondrogenic mesenchymal cell aggregates in the regenerating newt limb☆
[摘要] Developmentofthepatternofprechondrogeniccondensationswasdocumentedbyquantitatingregionalcelldensitieswithinblastemasofregeneratingforelimbsofnewts.Thepatternofdevelopmentresemblesthatofembryoniclimbdevelopmentinthattheprechondrogenicpatterndevelopsfromproximaltodistal,andbythepresenceofanapicalepithelialthickeningwhichismostprominentpostaxiallyduringtheintermediatephaseofmesenchymalcellaccumulation.Developmentdiffersfromthatdescribedpreviouslyinthatanincreasedcentralcelldensityispresentinthesmallestblastemasanalyzed,andthesequenceofdigitformationisfromanteriortoposterior.Also,ablisteroftenintervenesbetweentheepitheliumandmesenchymeduringtheearlyphaseofdevelopment.Cumulatively,theseobservationssupportmodelswhichsuggestmechanismsforproximodistaldevelopmentandastimulatoryroleforapicalepithelium.However,thepresenceofacentralcelldensitypriortodefinitiveaggregationimpliesamechanismotherthandenovocondensationwhichisassumedincurrentmodels.Additionally,increasedmesenchymalcelldensitysubjacenttothickenedepitheliumiscontrarytomodelswhichimplythatsuchareasshouldbelessdense.Finally,digitalaggregatesdevelopfrompreaxialtopostaxial,whichisoppositethatofmostamniotes,andisnotpredictedbycurrentmodelsoflimbmorphogenesis.
