Glycosaminoglycans in the basal lamina and extracellular matrix of the developing mouse mammary duct☆
[摘要] Mammaryductalelongationinthesubadultvirginmousetakesplaceastheenlargedepithelialtip,or“endbud,â€growsintothesurroundingfattystroma.Bymeansofhistochemicalandautoradiographictechniquesusedinconjunctionwithenzymesusceptibilitystudies,wedemonstratedthatthebasallamina(BL)attheendbudtipisrichinhyaluronate,whichisproducedbyadistinctoutermostlayerofepithelium,the“capcells.â€Theposteriorregionsoftheendbudareassociatedwithductalmorphogenesisandtissuestabilization,andhereboththeepitheliaandthestromaaresitesofintensesulfatedglycosaminoglycan(S-GAG)synthesis.SynthesisofS-GAGswasalsofoundtoextendbeyondtheregionofcollagenfibrillogenesis,andintotheconnectivetissuebetweentheadvancingducts,leadingustospeculatethattheseS-GAGsplayaroleintheestablishmentofinterductalspacing.
