Chick endogenous lectin enhances chondrogenesis of cultured chick limb bud cells
[摘要] Wehavestudiedtheeffectofβ-d-galactoside-specificlectinpurifiedfrom14-day-oldchickembryosonthedifferentiationofthemesenchymalcellsdissociatedfromthelimbbudsofstage24chickembryos,usingthemicro-massculturemethoddescribedpreviously.Whenthecellswereincubatedwiththelectinduringtheinitial12hrofculture,cellproliferationbecameslightlyactivated.Thelectin-treatedcellsformedagreaternumberofcartilagenodulesandincorporatedabouttwiceasmuchas[35S]sulfatepercellthanthecontrolcultures.Theresultsofthisstudyshowthatthechickendogenouslectinpromotescartilagedifferentiationinvitroandthatendogenouslectinmaypossiblybeinvolvedinchondrogenesisinvivo.
