[摘要] Ecdysteronestimulatesa2-to15-foldincreaseinthesynthesisoffoursmallheat-shockproteins(hsp)inDrosophilalineS3cells.Thisisaccompaniedbyarapidandcoincidentincreaseintheabundanceofsmallhsptranscripts.Aparallelinvivosituationisnowdescribedinimaginaldiscsisolatedfrompupariatinglarvae.Inneithersystemarethehigh-molecular-weightheat-shockproteins,ortheirRNAs,inducedbyhormone.Nordoesinductionoccurinvariantcelllineswhichhaveacquiredresistancetoecdysterone.Othergeneswithinorcontiguoustothesmallhspclusterarenotinducedbyeitherecdysteroneorhightemperature.Inductionbyecdysteroneappearstobeaprimaryhormoneresponse.
