Isoenzyme patterns of human liver α-l-fucosidase during development☆

[摘要] Thepatternofhumanliverα-l-fucosidaseisoenzymesduringdevelopmenthasbeenstudiedbyisoelectricfocusing.Sevenisoenzymeshavebeenfoundinliversfromfetuses,childrenandadults.Thepatternofisoenzymesappearstochangeduringdevelopment.Whereasthemostneutralform(I)ofα-l-fucosidaseisprominentinearlyfetaldevelopment(105–109daysgestation),itisgreatlydiminishedinamountlaterinfetaldevelopment(123–124daysgestation)andinchildrenandadults.Incubationofadulthumanliverα-l-fucosidasewithneuraminidaseeliminatesthefivemostacidformsoftheenzymeandgreatlyincreasestheamountofthemostneutralform(I).Itisthuspossiblethatsialylationofthemostneutralformofα-l-fucosidaseaccounts,atleastinpart,forthechangesinfucosidaseisoenzymepatternsduringdevelopment.
