A scanning electron microscopic study of the appearance and localization of cell surface material during amphibian gastrulation☆
[摘要] Cellsurfacematerial(CSM)hasbeenimplicatedinawidevarietyofmorphogeneticprocesses.WedescribehereitsdiscreteappearanceattheblastoporalregionthroughoutgastrulationinthesalamanderAmbystomamexicanum.TheCSMbecomesvisibleinthescanningelectronmicroscopeaftertreatmentwithAlcianblueandlanthanumnitratewhichreportedlyatteststothepresenceofmucopolysaccharides.ThepossibleimportanceofthisCSMisunderscoredbyitscorrelativeappearanceontissueundergoingmorphogeneticmovementandinduction.
