Isolation and characterization of ribosomes from thoraces of the sheep blowfly, Lucilia cuprina, and their capacity for protein synthesis at different stages of development☆

[摘要] TheisolationandcharacterizationofribosomalfractionsfromthoracesofLuciliacuprinahavebeendescribedandtheircapacityforinvitroproteinsynthesisstudiedatdifferentstagesofdevelopment.Therearelargedifferencesintheyieldofribosomesduringdevelopment,andtheseprobablyreflectdifferencesinthenumberofribosomesinvivo.Theaminoacidincorporationactivityvariedatdifferentstagesofdevelopmentandthisvariationcorrelatedwiththepercentageofpolysomespresent.Maximalactivitywasfoundjustafteradultemergence.Resultsobtainedbytheuseofsupernatantfractionsfromdifferentstagesofdevelopmentsuggestthatcontrolofproteinsynthesisinthisinsecttakesplaceattheleveloftranslation.
