[摘要] Theappearanceofadiurnalrhythminserotonincontentintheratepiphysisissuppressedbyrearingtheyounginconstantlightfrombirth.Iftheyoungareputfromconstantlightintoconstantdarknessatage20days,byage30daysthereisamarkedrhythminthecontentofpinealserotonin.Itwouldappearthatthisrhythmisinborn,sinceitappearsevenafteraninitialsuppressionwithouttheinterventionofanexternalsynchroniser.Fifty-eight-day-oldmales,maintainedinconstantlightfrom21to11daysbeforekilling,andtheninconstantdarkness,showedanormaldiurnalrhythminepiphysialserotonincontent.
