The developmental capacity of various stages of a macrocyst-forming strain of the cellular slime mold, Dictyostelium mucoroides☆
[摘要] VegetativecellsofcertainstrainsofDictyosteliummucoroidesformfruitingbodiesonanagarsurfaceandmacrocystswhenplacedundersaline.Thisstudysoughttodeterminewhethertheaggregationandpseudoplasmodialstagesoffruitingbodyformationcouldbeinducedtoformmacrocystswhenplacedundersaline.Likewise,differentstagesinmacrocystformationwereputonanagarsurfacetodeterminetheirpotentialtoswitchtofruitingbodyformation.Itwasfoundthat78%oftheaggregatesand21%ofthepseudoplasmodiaplacedundersalineformedmacrocystsindicatingthatasfruitingbodydevelopmentproceeds,thereisarestrictionofthecapabilityofcellstorespondtoenvironmentalconditionsfavoringmacrocystformation.Stagesinmacrocystdevelopmentpriortotheformationofprecystsalwaysformedfruitingbodieswhenputonagar.Onceprecystshadformed,surroundedbytheiracellularsheath,theyalwaysdevelopedasmacrocystsonagar.Peripheralcellsisolatedfromprecystsandputonagarquicklyaggregated;theaggregatesbecamesuroundedbyasheathanddevelopedasmacrocysts.Ifisolatedperipheralcellswereallowedtoproliferateontheagarsurface,theresultingcellsaggregatedandformedfruitingbodies.
