Electron microscopic studies on choriolysis by the hatching enzyme of the teleost, Oryzias latipes
[摘要] MorphologicalchangesinthechorionoftheMedaka,Oryziaslatipes,broughtaboutbythehatchingenzymewereexaminedbytransmissionaswellasscanningelectronmicroscopy.Thestructureoftheintactchorion,especiallyitsthickmultilamellarinnerlayer,doesnotchangeduringdevelopmentuntilabout1hrbeforetheonsetofhatching.Aschoriolysisproceeds,theinnerlayerofthechorionisdigestedtoyieldsolubleproteinsofrelativelyhighmolecularweight.Duringthisprocessitappearsthateachlamellaissuccessivelysolubilizedfromtheinnersurfaceofthechorion.Finally,athinouterlayerwithaccompanyingvilliandattachingfilamentsremains.Undertheexperimentalconditionsused,theenzymewasindirectcontactwithboththeinnerandouterlayersofthechorion.Becauseofthis,theenzymecouldpenetratetheouterlayerandactonsomeperipheralpartsoftheunderlyinginnerlayer.Basedonthesemorphologicalchanges,amechanismisproposedtoaccountforthesolubilizationofthechorionbythehatchingenzyme.
