The induction fo collagenase by thyroxine in resorbing tadpole tailfin in vitro☆
[摘要] ExplantsoftailfintissuefromRanapipiensorR.catesbianaundergocompletereepithelializationofthecutsurfaces(healing)incultureat22°C.Afterreepithelialization,thesehealedexplantsmaintainnormaltissueorganizationinsubsequentcultureateither22or37°C.Whenthyroxineisaddedtothemediumofthesehealedexplants,anorganizedresorptionofthetissueoccurs,characterizedbyagraduallossofexplantsizeandthelossoftissuecollagenwhichisconcomitantwiththeappearanceofcollagenaseinthemedium.Thesethroxine-dependentchangesoccurat22°Cand,morerapidly,at37°C.Controlreepithelializedexplantsdonotresorb,losecollagenorproducecollagenase.Incontrast,tailfintissuefrombothspecies,whenplacedincultureat37°Cdirectly,failstoreepithelializeandundergoesmassiveresorption,independentofhormonalconditions.Thesefindingsindicatethatcollagenaseisinvolvedinthephysiologicalremovalofcollagenfromtheresorbingtadpoletailfinandthattheexpressionofcollagenaseactivityisregulatedbythyroxine.
