Maternal messenger RNA and histone synthesis in embryos of the surf clam Spisula solidissima☆☆☆
[摘要] MessengerRNAhasbeenisolatedfromthepostribosomalsupernatantofSpisulasolidissimaeggs.ThismRNAdirectsthesynthesisofseveralproteinswhenaddedtotheascitesorwheatgermcellfreesystem.NohistoneexceptF1iscodedforbySpisulaeggmRNA,incontrasttowhathasbeenreportedpreviouslyforseaurchineggmRNA.InseaurchineggshistonemRNAisamongtheabundantspeciesofmaternalmRNA.HistoneshavebeenpreparedfromSpisulaembryosatdifferentdevelopmentstagesandhistonesynthesisfollowedbyincubationwith(14C)lysine.TheanalysisbyelectrophoresisonacrylamidegelsindicatesthatthepatternofsynthesisofhistoneschangesduringdevelopmentandthatanewhistoneF1fractionisactivelysynthesizedfromthe32–64cellsstage.InearlierembryosadifferentF1histoneissynthesizedandthemRNAforthisproteinmaybetheonlyhistonemRNApresentineggs.
