Variation of thymidine incorporation patterns in the alternating vegetative and sexual life cycles of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii☆
[摘要] ThecellulardistributionofthymidinekinaseactivitiesinChlamydomonasreinhardtii,asmanifestedbytheinvivoincorporationofexogenousthymidineand5-bromodeoxyuridineintodifferentDNAspecies,appearedtobeorganellespecificandvariedwithdifferentdevelopmentalstagesinthelifecycleofthisorganism.Duringvegetativegrowthandgametogenicdifferentiation,thymidineand5-bromodeoxyuridinewereshowntobeselectivelyincorporatedintochloroplastbutnotnuclearDNA.Ontheotherhand,duringzygoticgerminationinwhichmeiosisoccursandtheensuingvegetativedivisionsofmeioticproducts,thymidineaswellas5-bromodeoxyuridinewereincorporatedintobothnuclearandchloroplastDNA.Theseresultssuggestthat,inadditiontothethymidinekinaseactivitythatisconstantlypresentinthechloroplast,acytoplasmicthymidinekinaseisderepressedonlyduringthesexualreproductivecycleofC.reinhardtii.
