Cell contact mediated differentiation in Dictyostelium☆
[摘要] MajorbiochemicalandultrastructuralchangesoccurinDictyosteliumdiscoideumplasmamembranesfollowingaggregationoftheamoebae.TheeffectsofcyclicAMP,ConcanavalinA(ConA),anddisruptionofcellcontactsonmembraneparticlesynthesisandthesubsequentdifferentiationofpresporesandmaturesporesweredetermined.Theresultsindicatedthatpresporecelldifferentiationalwaysfailedunderconditionsinwhichlargeparticleformationwasinhibitedorcellsbearingparticleswererestrictedintheircontacts.AlthoughpresporecellsexposedtoConAformedmaturesporesdevoidofpresporevacuoles,thecellwallsweredefective.Theresearchsuggeststhattheinteractionsbetweenmembraneparticlesofapposingamoebaemayinitiatedifferentiationofpresporesandmaturespores.
