The MADS-Box Factor CeMEF2 Is Not Essential for Caenorhabditis elegans Myogenesis and Development
[摘要] MEF2isanevolutionarilyconservedMADS(MCM1,Agamous,Deficiens,andserumresponsefactor)box-typetranscriptionfactorthatplaysacriticalroleinvertebrateandDrosophilamelanogastermyogenesis.WehaveaddressedthedevelopmentalroleofthesingleMEF2-likefactor,CeMEF2,inCaenorhabditiselegans.Usingexpressionassaysandtwomef-2deletionalleles,weshowthatCeMEF2isnotrequiredforpropermyogenesisordevelopment.Moreover,aputativenullmef-2allelefailstoenhanceorsuppressthephenotypesofmutantsinCeMyoDorCeTwist.OurresultssuggestthatdespiteitsevolutionaryconservationofsequenceandDNAbindingproperties,CeMEF2hasadoptedadivergentroleindevelopmentinthenematodecomparedwithDrosophilaandvertebrates.
