A comparison of pigment cell development in albino, steel, and dominant-spotting mutant mouse embryos☆
[摘要] Themutationsalbino,steel,anddominant-spottingwereinvestigatedthroughamethodofintroducingnormalmelanoblastsintoskinfrommutantembryosofvariousages.Theskin-melanoblastcombinationswereculturedinthechickembryofor15days,andthedevelopmentofpigmentationinthegraftedskinandhosttissueswasdetermined.Eleven-dayembryonicalbinoskincombinedwithnormalmelanoblastsresultedintheappearanceofpigmentinthegraftandhosttissues.Thirteendayandolderalbinoembryonicskin-melanoblastcombinationsyieldedpigmentonlyinthehosttissues.Melanocyteswereabsentinthelargemajorityofthegraftsthemselves.Thirteen-to18-dayWvWvembryonicskin-melanoblastcombinationsresultedinpigmentformationinboththegraftedskinandhosttissuesinallcases.SldSldskin-melanoblastcombinationsof13–18daysresultedinpigmentdevelopmentinneitherthegraftedskinnorthehosttissuesinthelargemajorityofthecases.Theseresultsdemonstratedthatthepresenceofamelanoticmelanoblastsinalbinoskinat13daysandolderpreventedtheentranceofnormalmelanoblasts.ThereceptivityofWvWvskintonormalmelanoblastsindicatedthatskinofthisgenotypedidnotpossessmelanoblastsinanyformattheagestested.WvWvmelanoblastseitherneverenteredtheskinofprospectiveblack-eyedwhiteembryos,ortheydidnotsurvivebecauseofsomeintrinsicfactorimmediatelyaftercolonizingtheskin.Theskinofsteelmiceeitherpreventedthedifferentiationofthenormalmelanoblastsoritinhibitedtheirmigration.Thisactionofsteelskinwasratherpotent,fortheinhibitionaffectednotonlyitselfbuttheappearanceofpigmentinthehosttissuesaswell.
