The acceleration of ribonucleic acid synthesis in cleaving sea urchin embryos☆
[摘要] TheincorporationofguanosineintoGTPandRNAhasbeenmeasuredinunfertilized,fertilized,andcleavingeggsoftheseaurchin,Strongylocentrotuspurpuratus.Atallstagesexamined,guanosineisconcentratedfromtheseawaterandconvertedtoGTP.Usingthemethodsdescribed,thereislittledetectableincorporationofisotopeintoRNApriortofertilization,noristhereanydetectablechangeinincorporationfollowingfertilization.Detectableincorporationispresent,andsynthesisofRNAisintenseafterthethirdcleavagedivision.RNAsynthesiscouldoccurpriortothistime,butatratesprobablylessthan10%thatatthe16-cellstage.Hence,thereisaconsiderablechangeinrateofnetRNAsynthesisshortlyafterthethirdcleavagedivision.
