Cytoplasmic microtubules and the mechanism of avian gastrulation☆☆☆★
[摘要] Cellsoftheprimitivestreakinbothchickandpenguinembryosdemonstrateelongatebottleshapesaswellascuboidal-columnarshapes.Wesuggestthatachangeincellshapeisarequirementforinvagination.Thechangeinshapeofprimitivestreakcellsmaybeinitiatedbytheelaborationofcytoplasmicmicrotubules;thesemayactbytransportingcytoplasmfromapicaltobasalportionsofepiblastcells.Bundlesofmicrotubulesarefoundwithinandarrangedparalleltoattenuatednecksofinvaginatingepiblastcells.Themodeofactionofthesemicrotubulesisnotknown,butwithinelongateneckregionsmicrotubulesarelongandstraightratherthancoiled.Duetocytoplasmictranslocationplustheconcertedactionoflobopodialandfilopodialcytoplasmicextensions,andspecializedcellcontacts,primitivestreakcellsaredisplacedbeneaththeepiblast'sfreesurfaceintothemesoblast.
