Cell lineage relationships in the imaginal wing disc of Drosophila melanogaster☆
[摘要] Anaccountisgivenofthepatternsofcelllineageinthewingandmesonotum,thederivativesoftheimaginalwingdiscofDrosophilamelanogaster.Thesystemwasanalyzedusingsomaticcrossingover,inducedbyX-raysatspecificstagesofdevelopment.Clonallyrelatedcellsoccupylongitudinalstripesinthewing,andthisisinterpretedtomeanthatcelldivisionsareorientedinthedevelopingdisc.Clonallyrelatedcellsoccupyirregularlyshapedareasinthemesonotum,butsomenonrandomnessisdetectable.Thedataindicatethat,intheembryo,presumptivewingdisccellsarenotdeterminedasbetweenupperwing,lowerwing,andmesonotum.Inthelarva,however,theanlagenofthesethreestructuresarerepresentedbyseparatepopulationsofproliferatingcellswithinthedisc.Thesegroupsofcellshavedistinctratesandpatternsofcelldivision.Thedatawereusedtoestimatecellnumbersinthethreepartsofthediscatvariousstagesofdevelopment.Itappearsthatthegrowthratesofthepartsofthewingdiscareconstantthroughoutlarvaldevelopment.Theresultsarediscussedinrelationtoproblemsofmorphogenesisinimaginaldiscs.
