The origin of immunoglobulins in opossum “embryos”☆
[摘要] Theappearanceofimmunoglobulinswasstudiedinnewbornandknownagedpouchyoungopossums.Newbornserumcollectedfromtheneonatepriortotheanimalsattachmenttotheteat,wasstudiedforthefirsttime.Thisnewbornserumdisplayedatotallackofimmunoglobulins.However,immunoglobulinswerefoundpresent12hrafterattachmentandresultsindicatedthattheopossumembryosreceiveimmunoglobulinsthroughthemother'smilk.Theinitialabsence,thefirstappearance,andthelaterincreaseinconcentrationoftheseimmunoglobulinswasstudiedinaseriesofdevelopingembryosusingbloodserumfromknown-agedneonates.IgG-andIgM-likeserumproteinswereidentifiedintheadultopossumandathirdproteinclasswithIgA-likecharacteristicswasisolated.BothIgG-andIgA-likeantibodieswerealsoidentifiedinopossummilk.
