Cell aggregation rate versus aggregate size☆
[摘要] Threeconditionswhichinfluenceboththeaggregationrateandthefinalsizeofaggregatesofdissociatedembryonicchickretinacellswerestudiedtodeterminewhethertherewasastrictrelationshipbetweenthesetwovariables.Thelengthoftrypsinizationtime,ageoftheembryo,andconcentrationofchondroitinsulfateinthemediumundersomeconditionsshowedaninverserelationshipbetweentheirinfluenceonaggregationrateandthefinalsizeoftheaggregates;conditionsfavoringmorerapidaggregationreducedthesizeofaggregatesformedby24hr.Embryoniclivercellsalsoshowedthisinverserelationshipwhenculturedwithchondroitinsulfate.Theseobservationsandothersimilarobservationsintheliteratureemphasizethatwheninterpretingtheactionofexogenouspromotersorinhibitorsofcellaggregation,attentionshouldbegiventothepossibilitythattheremightnotbeadirectrelationshipbetweeninitialrateandfinalsize.
