Changes in protein synthesis during alternate pathways of differentiation in the cellular slime mold Polysphondylium pallidum☆
[摘要] Acrylamidegelelectrophoresisinthepresenceofsodiumlaurylsulfateandautoradiographyofdriedgelswereusedtodetectincorporationof[14C]acetateintospecificpolypeptidesofdevelopingcells.Twenty-fourpolypeptidesshowedchangesinnetrateofsynthesisduringlight-inducedaggregationandsorogenesis,and15bandschangedduringKCl-inducedencystment.MostofthechangesduringaggregationwerecommontothreestrainsofP.pallidum,butdifferentfromthoseexhibitedbyD.discoideum.Theyfailedtooccurifthecellsweremaintainedindarkness,andthepatternofchangeswasalteredbysublethalhightemperature.Afewchangeswerecommontobothaggregatingandencystingcells,andtostalkformingcellsinducedbycyclicAMP.Apulse-chaseexperimentindicatedthatalldetectableincreasesinnetsynthesiswerecausedbyalterationsinactualsynthesisratherthanindegradation.Itissuggestedthattheobservedchangesinsynthesismaybeessentialtothecorrelatedpathwaysofcellulardifferentiation.
