Scanning electron microscopic visualization of collagen fibers in embryonic chick skin☆
[摘要] Thedispositionofcollagenfibersinembryonicchickskincanbevisualizedbyuseofscanningmicroscopy(SEM).Chickbackskinwasremovedfrom8-dayembryos,theepithelialandmesenchymalcomponentswereseparated,andthemesenchymewassubjectedto10%trypsintreatment(Stuart,E.S.,andMoscona,A.A.(1967)Science157,947–948),afterwhichitwaspreparedforSEMbycriticalpointdryingandcoating.Suchpreparationswerelargelyfreeofcellularmaterial.Cavitieswhichpresumablyhadcontainedthecellswerepresentinanetworkoffibers.Skinofthescalelessmutantwasalsostudied.Inthismutantthecollagennetworkwasmoreirregularandcollagenfiberdiameterwasmorevariable.Thesefindingsarediscussedinconnectionwiththeformationoffeathergermpattern.
