Apogamic induction of haploid plasmodia in a myxomycete, Didymium iridis
[摘要] Interisolatecrossesbetweenhaploid(meanDNA=0.32)CR5-5(A2)myxamoebaeandpolyploid(meanDNA=1.80)CR2–25(A5)myxamoebaeofthemyxomyceteDidymiumiridisresultinplasmodiathathavethehaploid(meanDNA=0.32)DNAcontentratherthanthepredictedpolyploidvalue.F1clonespossessthematingtypealleleoftheCR5-5cloneonly,andtheyalsohavethesamemeanDNAcontentasCR5-5myxamoebae.CrossesbetweentheseF1clonesandCR2–25myxamoebaeagainresultedintheproductionofhaploidplasmodia.Hence,thepolyploidCR2–25cloneappearstoinducetheCR5-5clonetoproduceplasmodiawithoutinvolvingitselfinnuclearfusion.
