Sequential gene activation by ecdysone in polytene chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster,: V. The late prepupal puffs

[摘要] Inthelate(8–12hr)prepupalsalivaryglandsofDrosophilamelanogasterthereareanumberofchromosomalpuffsspecificallyinducedbyecdysone.Someofthesepuffs(e.g.,74EF,75B,and62E)arealsoinducedinlarvalsalivaryglandsbyecdysone,whileothers(e.g.,93F)donotrespondtoecdysoneinlarvalglands.Thecharacteristicsoftheresponseinlarvalandprepupalglandsarecomparedandtheresponsesofstage-specificecdysonepuffs(e.g.,78Dinlarvaeand93Finprepupae)arediscussed.Bymanipulationofecdysonetitresinvitrothecompletelatelarvalandprepupalpuffingsequencecannowbereproducedinculturedlarvalglands.
