Anterior and posterior compartments in the proboscis of Drosophila
[摘要] GenetictechniquesformarkingsinglecellsandtheirdescendentsareusedtostudythedevelopmentoftheDrosophilaproboscis.Theproboscisdevelopsfromapairofimaginaldiscswhichformtheleftandrighthalvesoftheadultorgan.Eachhalfoftheproboscisissubdividedintotwocompartments,onepositionedanteriortotheother.Thehomeoticmutationproboscipediatransformsthedistalproboscisintoapairofdistalfirstlegsorantennae.Clonesofthismutationarerestrictedtooneortheotherofthetwoprobosciscompartmentsandrevealaprecisehomologybetweenthesecompartmentsandtheanteriorandposteriorcompartmentsofthethoraxandeye-antenna.TheseresultsprovidestrongsupportforthehypothesisthatanteriorandposteriorcompartmentsreflectbasicsubunitsofsegmentdevelopmentinDrosophila.
