Vascular invasion of cartilage: Correlation of morphology with lysozyme, glycosaminoglycans, protease, and protease-inhibitory activity during endochondral bone development☆
[摘要] Changesinthelevelsoflysozyme,patternsofglycosaminoglycans,andactivitiesofproteasesandproteaseinhibitorswerestudiedduringmatrix-inducedcartilage,bone,andbonemarrowdevelopment.Themorphologicaltransitionswerecorrelatedwiththebiochemicalparameters.TherewasapeakinlysozymecontentonDay3,duringmesenchymalcellproliferation,followedbyadeclineduringendochondralboneformation.ThelysozymelevelsincreasedagainandattainedmaximalvaluesduringhematopoiesisonDay21.Protease-inhibitoryactivitywasmaximalduringchondrogenesisanddiminishedduringosteogenesis.ProteaseactivitywasmaximalonDay3duringmesenchymalcellproliferationandwasapparentlypresentasanenzyme-inhibitorcomplex.Vascularizationandboneformationwereaccompaniedbyanincreaseinproteaseactivity.Chondroitin-4-sulfatewasthepredominantglycosaminoglycandetectedinthematrix-inducedcartilageandbone.
