Rates of ribosomal protein and total protein synthesis during Drosophila early embryogenesis☆
[摘要] Embryosatvariousstagesofearlydevelopmentfrom1.5to5hrafterovipositionweremadepermeablewithoctaneandlabeledfor1hrwith[3H]phenylalanine.Measurementsoftherateofincorporationof[3H]phenylalanineintoribosomalproteinsandtotalproteinweremadeusingthesesynchronizedDrosophilaembryos.Therateofsynthesisofthoseribosomalproteinsincorporatedintoribosomesincreasesuntil3to4hrafterfertilization(550pg/embryo-hr)thendeclineslaterinembryonicdevelopment.Therateoftotalproteinsynthesisismaximalasearlyduringembryonicdevelopmentascouldbemeasured.Duringtheperiodbetween1.5and2.5hrafterfertilizationthisrateis9.4ng/embryo-hrandthenalsodeclines.Thesynthesisofribosomalproteinsaccountsforasubstantialportion(4.5%–8.9%)oftotalproteinsynthesisinearlyembryos.TheseresultsindicatethatribosomeformationisasignificantactivityduringtheearlieststagesofDrosophiladevelopment.
