Diversification within embryonic chick somites: Differential response to notochord☆
[摘要] Thetissueinteractionbetweenthenotochordandthesomitesofthevertebrateembryoestablishesthepropershapeandconstitutionofthevertebralcartilage.Soonaftersomiteformation,thesomitedifferentiatesintoacartilage-formingpart,thesclerotome,andamuscleandskin-formingpart,thedermamyotome.Thesecomponentsofthesomiteweredissectedfrom312-day-oldchickembryos(stage1812–19andculturedinvitrointhepresenceorabsenceofnotochord.Itwasfoundthatthesclerotomecellsrespondtothenotochordbyanincreasedincidenceofhyalinecartilagenodules,greateraccumulationofsulfatedglycosaminoglycans,synthesisoflargeraggregatesofproteoglycans,increasedDNAaccumulation,andacceleratedDNAsynthesis.Thedermamyotomedidnotshowthesechanges.Theseresultsindicatethatthenotochordenhancescartilagedifferentiationinthesclerotome.Undertheseconditions,thenotochorddidnotelicitcartilageformationinthedermamyotome.
