A genetic melanotic neoplasm of Drosophila melanogaster☆
[摘要] Tumlisasex-linkedrecessivelethalmutation.Themajorpathologicalconsequenceofthismutationishypertrophyofthelarvallymphglandfollowedbytheencapsulationoftheanteriormidgut,i.e.,theformationofmelanoticpseudotumors.InjectionoftheTumllarvallymphglandintoadultfemalehostsresultsinseveremelanization,growthoftheinjectedtissue,andprematuredeathofthehostanimals.ThetissuerecoveredfromahostinjectedwithTumllarvallymphglandsgrowsinsubsequenthosts,causestheprematuredeathofthosehosts,andmayormaynotgiverisetomelanizations.NoneoftheseeffectsisseeninhostsinjectedwithotherTumltissues,includingencapsulatedmidguttissueorinhostsinjectedwithwild-typelarvallymphglandtissue.UltrastructuralstudiesrevealthattheneoplastictissuederivedfromhostsinjectedwithTumllymphglandscontaincellswhichresembleDrosophilabloodcellsbothstructurallyandfunctionally.ThisevidencesuggeststhattheTumlmutationexpressesatruemelanoticneoplasminwhichneoplasticcellscapableofencapsulatingandmelanizingarecontinuouslyproduced.Thisisthefirstdemonstrationofamelanoticneoplasmassociatedwithamelanotictumormutation.
