The epidermal cell cycle during the metamorphosis of Tenebrio molitor L. (Insecta Coleoptera)
[摘要] ThemainfeaturesofepidermalcellcycleduringthemetamorphosisofTenebriomolitorhavebeeninvestigatedbycelldensitystudy,[3H]thymidineincorporation,andcytophotometry.G1,S,andMphasesarerestrictedtoshortperiodsduringeachlarvalstage.Thepupalmitoticwaveisrelativelylongerthanthelarvalones.Outsideofeachmitoticperiod,95to100%oftheepidermalcellsareblockedinG2(4CDNAcontent).Thecelldensitystudyshowsthatduringthepenultimatelarvalinstar,numerouscellsbypassthemitoticperiodwithoutdividingwhileduringthemitoticperiodofthelastlarvalinstarandofthepupalstage,eachcelldividesonceandtwiceforsomecells.Afterthepupalmitoticperiod,numerousadultcellsaredefinitelyblockedinG2but20to30%ofcellspresentinoldadultsareinG1.Adultepidermaloenocytesdifferentiateduringthelastlarvalmitoticperiod,becoming8to32C.Fromtheseresults,itcanbeconcludedthattheG2blockandthereleaseofG2-blockedcellsintoMaretwocriticaleventsofeachmoltingcycle.Apossiblehormonalcontroloftheseeventsisdiscussed.
